Key Pictures is a global production company dedicated to capturing universal stories that reveal the essence of the human condition in today’s world. As our screens fill with ever-more synthetic artifice, we focus our energies on the opposite. We seek out truly original stories, capture them as they unfold, and give voice to the hidden protagonists of our time.
Whether through fiction or documentary (we see no difference), our work opens a space where new truths about ourselves and our shared reality can emerge.
Founded by photographer/film-maker Simon Hipkins in 2008, Key Pictures grows from a deep belief in storytelling as key to understanding our emotions and reality.
Some of our regular and hugely talented collaborators include film editor Mariko Montpetit (whose documentary work has twice been nominated for an Oscar), award winning Scottish composer/musician David McAulay, photojournalist and Middle East specialist Agata Skowronek, anthropologist/film-maker Matt da Silva and drama/doc film-maker Julio Pereria.
